A Bangin' Life

You can’t plan for something you’ve never done.

You don’t actually want a plan. You just like the feeling of having one.

If you’re reading this in email, it’s too long to fit, so you have to view it in a browser or in the app. I consider this the best thing I’ve yet written so I don’t want you to miss it for a technical detail. Enjoy! -C

The farmer plants a seed and does not kneel beside the earth every hour to dig into the soil and see whether life has begun.

Checking would not prove faithfulness. It would disturb the process.

The acorn contains the pattern of the oak. It doesn’t need you to tell it how to become a tree.

This is the root philosophy of your desires, illustrated by the planted seed.

This may sound familiar, as this idea has been utilized in things like manifestation, affirmation, and the like.

Today, I’m going deeper into why we dig. The human who needs to check. The human who lacks faith that the seed will know what to do.

Let’s talk about that.

Someone digs up the seed not because they don’t understand how to plant it in the first place.

Knowing your desires, creating goals, the pull toward reaching your potential… these are innate.

It’s the nurturing that’s the problem. And because there’s a self-trust epidemic on this globe of ours, well… it’s a trust thing.

You don’t trust you planted the right thing (second-guessing).

You don’t trust you can handle what comes up through the dirt (challenge).

Every quiet check, every dive of the shovel… it’s a lack of faith.

So, let’s get objective, because this made me laugh when I heard myself say it out loud.

How could you plan for something you’ve never done?
